Kinds of Aisles
Lift trucks are classified due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to work in. Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are certain aisle widths to take into consideration with various units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks can work in less than 6 feet places, while some would utilize particular guidance systems like rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some various models of VNA trucks include Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are popular models in compact retail areas and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks could operate within aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Normally these are stand-up models such as Reach Trucks. They are commonly used in storage facilities and warehouses.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard which is designed to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is very spacious and has an 8" low step height which helps reduce overall body fatigue by easing frequent entry and exit. The model includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat along with a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and therefore more effective while limiting fatigue.
